It didn't work for me. I tried this way with some of your Shimeji, but they still don't work; I still get the message 'failed to load conf. See log for more information' None of your Shimejis work to me, not even with this method.

How To Get Shimeji To Work On Chromebook

Shimeji is a free program that creates a small mascot to walk around your desktop, generally causing mischief. You can download the original program here. There is also an english codefork here, if all the Japanese intimidates you.
By replacing the images in the img folder with your own, you can create your own desktop mascots. I wrote a more detailed tutorial on how to do that here. Upon finding this out I immediately started making zombie ones because I have a problem.

Dream SMP shimeji pack available for download below. You can activate the Dream SMP shimejis in the Shimeji Browser Extension for Google Chrome. Get one of your. Shimeji is designed to work on Windows, but there have been workarounds made for Macs! You can read more about Mac Shimejis at this page, although be warned, I can't help you too much with this since I don't have a Mac.

TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THESE SHIMEJIS

1. Download the rar of your choice.
2. Double click the downloaded .rar file and a new window should pop up with a 'Shimeji_Hunterzombie1.7' folder. If that doesn't happen, you need an extractor like Winrar or 7zip
3. There should be a button in your program saying something like 'extract to'. Click it, and specify an easy to remember location. This should extract the whole folder to this location (MAKE SURE YOU EXTRACT THE WHOLE FOLDER, NOT JUST THE EXE FILE)
3. Go to the folder and doubleclick shimeji.exe (or shimeji.jar, i heard that works too). The shimeji should fall on your desktop.
4. To remove the program, delete the folder.

If you get an error message in Japanese, your java is not up to date. You can download an update for that here, I've heard. Shimeji is designed to work on Windows, but there have been workarounds made for Macs! You can read more about Mac Shimejis at this page, although be warned, I can't help you too much with this since I don't have a Mac. As far as I can tell though, basically download the Mac template Shimeji, then replace the /conf/ and /img/ folders of the template with the /conf/ and /img/ folders of the Shimeji you want to use.

Once it's running, you'll see a small icon in your taskbar for that shimeji. Right click on that to bring up a menu. Translated, it goes:

1. Spawn a Shimeji
2. Come here!
3. Remove all Shimejis but one
4. Bring back IE screens (They will sometimes throw your browser windows around if they aren't fullscreen, and also MSN messenger I think)
5. Exit

You can also rightclick an individual shimeji and select Baibai to get rid of one at a time.

Hunter was the first shimeji that I made and has a few rough edges here and there as a result. But on the whole I think she came out pretty well, haha.

Her conf files have been specially edited for her. The edits are:

-Two new idle animations (usually triggered when you call her to your mouse, if you aren't seeing them, or when she's on an IE window)
-Two new running animations (one for jogging, one when you call her)
-Fixed her crawling animation
-Fixed some timing things here and there
-Added an extra frame at the beginning of her fall

If you want to see her in action, I recorded a quick video of me playing with her.

Smoker was the second one I made, and is a bit more polished as a result. Like Hunter, her conf files have been specially edited.

-An uneven walking cycle to give her a limp
-A separate running animation
-Extra falling/jumping frames
-An idle animation while standing still and sitting
-Two new idle animations while sitting
-More frames for one of the default sitting animations
-Changed the alignment for her kicking-her-legs animation
-Adjusted crawling/climbing-a-wall frame orders

Unfortunately she's not size-matched to her partner, and they can't interact with each other.

Here's a video of what she looks like in action.

Preinfected Hunter and Smoker are a joint shimeji, and will wander around together. These two have a lot of new animations and extra frames (some 200!) so are much bigger and more complicated than their infected counterparts. Their conf files have been edited quite a bit. They have:

-Unique jogging/running animation
-Extra frames while falling
-Extra frames while landing
-Separate and new tripping animation
-Separate animation after a particular spawn
-New idle animation while climbing an IE window (and sometimes your monitor, reportedly, although they don't do it on mine)
-Adjusted timing on their crawling sprites
-Hanging frame when you pick them up
-Fifteen new idle animations while sitting
-Five new idle animations while standing
-Added animation after throwing an IE window
-Added frames to an existing sitting idle

They can't interact with other Shimejis, but they will definitely interact with each other, haha.I recorded a quick video of what they look like in action.

Q: How does one go about using shimeji’s?
A: Windows download tutorial and Mac download tutorial.

Q: How do I make a shimeji?
A: This is a really good tutorial to guide you through how to make a shimeji. And this is a really useful guide to help you out!

Q: I downloaded it, but how do I open my shimeji?
A: Install winrar or 7zip, they’re free program that will allow you to open .rar files.

Q: Do you take submissions/requests?
A: Yes, I do take requests to look for specific shimeji’s. I will not MAKE you a shimeji. None of the shimejis on this blog were made by me, unless stated otherwise.

Q: Are shimejis safe to download? Can they give me a virus?
A: I can’t guarantee any download is safe because the internet is a very unsure place, but I haven’t downloaded any viruses through shimeji’s yet. I haven’t personally downloaded every shimeji from the list, nor do I think it’s a common practice for people to spread viruses through shimejis if at all. But it never hurts to be on the safe side! (I never really am. I’ve still downloaded ones when warnings pop up but still, so far no problems?) Nor has anyone ever told me about a virus from any shimejis.
And on that note… If any of you know if there is a shimeji on the list that is unsafe for download, please let me know so I can remove it! I do not want to advocate for the download of a virus, and I will remove a shimeji from the list right away to stop that from happening if you become aware of one.

Q: I sent you a message, but you never responded. Why?
A: I will no longer be responding to requests for help with any shimeji. I am not able to keep up with all the requests people send in and most of the time I don’t know what I can do to help anymore. Any requests for shimejis sent in I will add to the seeking page, but I will not respond to any of these asks. If you don’t think I got your request, you can feel free to send it in again as long as you are nice about it.

How Do Shimejis Work

Q: Have you posted a _____ shimeji?
A: Please check the masterlist. I have almost all shimeji’s I’ve posted/reblogged listed there, all sorted by their respective show/movie/ect. The only exceptions would be ones that were in the queue and were posted since I last updated it, which you should be able to find by just looking at the most recent pages of the blog.

Q: Can you make me a _____ shimeji?
A: No. I will look for one but I will not make you one.

Q: Can you take down _____ shimeji?
A: Of course! If a shimeji needs to be removed for some reason, I will take it down.

Q: How can I get my Shimeji’s to work on Window’s 8?
A: Try downloading this! I haven’t been able to test this method yet, but I’ve been told it works. I also found this, in case you’re still running into trouble even after downloading the correct Java.

Q: Can I get shimeji’s on my tablet/chromebook?
A: As far as I know, no. And I don’t know if someone will be able to figure it out in the future. I’ll try to keep updated on this if someone is able to figure this out, and if I hear anything about it I’ll be sure to post about it!

How To Activate A Shimeji

Q: My _____ shimeji won’t work for whatever reason!
A: My most common ask. When a shimeji isn’t working, there’s a few things that could be wrong. Sometimes a window will pop up to select your shimeji but will not run them, or it will tell you that you need to install a Java update which does nothing. When it does this, try clicking on the Executable Jar File to run the shimeji rather than the application.
If that isn’t the issue, try replace the image files into a working shimeji. Most of the time that seems to fix the problem for me.
There are some shimeji’s though where the program is written wrong or it just isn’t compatible with your computer. Lsi adapter driver. So if the first method didn’t work, try renaming the files or extracting the files.
If a window pops up telling you there is a Java Exception, try this. I admittedly don’t know if this works because I have never been able to test it so please tell me if this helps you or not!

How Do You Get Shimejis To Work Like

Q: I tried doing all that, it still won’t work.
A: Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming amount of people who have been asking for help I will most likely not be able to give out individual help anymore. If it seems like a lot of people are having similar issues I will try to look into the matter if possible, or at the very least publish an ask to get some feedback. Maybe someone out there will have an answer to the question.
